Sesi (“Social Service for Industry”), an entity dedicated to the welfare of workers throughout Brazil, has given an award to Vale in recognition of work undertaken by the company in the field of employee education and training. As part of the 14th Sesi Quality at Work Awards of 2010, Vale won in the Education and Development category.
The award reflects the company’s commitment to making education a mechanism to maintain competitiveness and excellence in performance as a strategy for attracting, developing and retaining qualified employees. In addition, our actions extend to third parties, suppliers and communities.
Vale was chosen for the award after a number of its projects were evaluated, such as Educational Models (Technical Track, Development Map and Management & Leadership Track), cross-cutting skills actions (H&S – Critical Activities Requirements), and the Professional Training Program. The programs are designed in line with the Brazilian National Quality Foundation (FNQ)’s Management Excellence Model.
Work and quality of life
Sesi’s awards are given to industrial companies and are intended to recognize outstanding employee management and empowerment practices. Another objective is to encourage organizations to incorporate social responsibility as a business strategy.
