In August, Vale received the Valor 1000 award in the Mining category, from influential Brazilian economic and financial daily Valor Econômico. This was the tenth edition of the awards, which are granted to the most efficient companies in 25 sectors of the Brazilian economy. It was the first time our company had won the award.
Over the past ten years, Valor 1000 awards have been handed outto a total of 150 firms for leadership in their sectors, and since 2002 a special award has been given one company, the “Valor Company” champion of champions.. Winners are chosen based on a ranking drawn up by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) business school in São Paulo and the Serasa Experian consumer credit rating service, two leading economic research institutions.
Selection is based on a range of innovative and technically rigorous performance criteria, including indicators such as sustainable growth, profit per activity and added value, alongside more traditional indicators like profitability and liquidity.
