Once more, Vale has appeared in the ranking of Brazil’s most admired companies produced by magazine Carta Capital, and comes top in the mining sector. The company’s CEO, Roger Agnelli, was also elected the most admired leader in the country. Since 2001, Vale has always featured in the top ten in these awards.

The awards ceremony, held on 18 October in São Paulo, was attended by the president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and executives from the country’s biggest companies.

The Carta Capital,  an important Brazilian magazine, awards were given on the basis of a thorough survey that looked at 48 economic sectors and involved over 1,100 interviews with executives between June and August.

The criteria used to select the most admired companies were: ethics, quality of products and services, innovation, respect for customers, quality of management, financial solidity, high profile, sustainable development, social responsibility and human resources, as well as their capacity to compete globally and their commitment to the country.
