The qualification stage consists of evaluating the documents of companies interested in being Vale suppliers. The documents requested at this stage, covering legal, financial, safety, occupational health and environmental aspects, guarantee compliance with legal obligations and ensure that suppliers are treated equally. Once all of the qualification cycle’s requirements have been met, a company can be approved as a Vale supplier and have its registration activated. The need to present each document varies in line with the supply category.
The qualification cycle involves the following stages: in Brazil:
1- Pre-registration: As explained in the section on the supplier prospecting stage.
2- Analysis of all documentation: Within 48 working hours, a Quadrem* technical team will analyze all the information and documents supplied by the company and will provide a response about the process via the Messages area on the Quadrem Portal. A copy of this message will also be sent to the email address registered as the company’s main contact address. (For this reason, it is important to register an up-to-date email address.)
3- Process of joining the Quadrem Portal*: When you are invited to provide a quotation, Quadrem will contact you to present its services and explain its commercial model. You will have to accept Quadrem’s commercial conditions to use the portal, and to supply goods or services to Vale.
4- Laboratory, industrial and pilot tests: In line with the supply category, industrial tests may be necessary to approve new suppliers. After such tests have been conducted and a technical report stating that the results were satisfactory has been issued, the qualified company will be able to participate in future bids to supply the tested and approved item.
