Vale’s railroad projects will expand the company’s ore transportation capacity and thereby improve the competitiveness of our products.
Railroad investments at Ponta da Madeira terminal, in the state of Maranhão, and the construction of the terminal’s fourth pier will raise the port’s capacity to approximately 150 million metric tons per year (Mtpy).
This project will expand the railroad and Ponta da Madeira Terminal to accommodate expansion in Carajás. A link between Carajás Railroad and Serra Sul S11D Mine will be built.
This project entails creating a railroad corridor to link Moatize Coal Mine to the Port of Nacala, where Vale will build a deepwater seaport. The railroad will cross the neighboring country of Malawi. The project involves both rehabilitating existing railroads and constructing a new stretch.
