Vale invests more in logistics in Brazil than any other company, thereby contributing to growth in the country’s exports. Our unparalleled, integrated infrastructure transports our products from mines along railroads, connecting inland Brazil to coastal ports and making it possible to carry freight from many different productive sectors.
We operate a railroad network over 10,000 kilometers in length. In all, we run four railroads: Centro-Atlântica, Vitória-Minas, Carajás and North-South (known by their Portuguese acronyms, FCA, EFVM, EFC and FNS, respectively). Vale also owns a 41.5% stake in MRS Logística, a company that transports our iron ore produced in our Southern System to maritime terminals in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Our two port complexes use cutting-edge technology to handle our products safely and efficiently. They are Tubarão Complex, our company’s main port complex, in Espírito Santo, and the Southern Port Complex, in Rio de Janeiro. We also operate maritime terminals at Ponta da Madeira, Maranhão; Inácio Barbosa, in Sergipe; and Santos, in São Paulo.
Vale’s logistics system carries much more than just iron ore across the country.
