Vitória-Minas Railroad

Trem

The Vitória-Minas Railroad (EFVM) operates the only daily long-distance passenger train service in Brazil, linking two major state capitals: Vitória in Espírito Santo and Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais.

Operating since 1907, the service promotes tourism and transports around one million passengers a year in safety and comfort. The route crosses regions of beautiful landscapes and historical importance, including colonial cities on the banks of the Piracicaba and Doce rivers in Minas Gerais, until it arrives at the beaches of Espírito Santo. In all, the 664-km journey takes around 13 hours.

The trains have a snack bar and restaurant, an exclusive car for people with disabilities, and air-conditioned executive cars. In all parts of the train, passengers can call on the onboard staff for assistance.

The route

Every day, two passenger trains travel along EFVM. One leaves Cariacica, in the metropolitan region of Vitória, Espírito Santo, at 7:00 am, arriving in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, at 8:10 pm. The other train departs from Belo Horizonte at 7:30 am and ends its journey at 8:30 pm.

EFVM also runs a service between the cities of Itabira and Nova Era, both in Minas Gerais, connecting with the two other trains on the main line.
