In partnership with NGO Guyra Paraguay Birdlife International, Vale recently brought together 50 Paraguayan children and young people who are involved in biodiversity conservation in the country. The Bird Guardian Club is designed to promote environmental education and help participants to spread responsible habits in their families.
Environmental specialists accompany members of the club at meetings and on guided tours. As well as seeing a diverse range of regional birdlife close up, participants learn the importance of preserving ecosystems to maintaining life on Earth.
All activities are free, and Bird Guardian Club members receive an official shirt and certificate. To assist with field visits, Vale and Guyra Paraguay Birdlife International have together produced a guide containing advice on bird watching and how to play your part to preserve species.
