The Vale Foundation and 11 other major companies met to celebrate and debate the 20th anniversary of the Statute on Children and Adolescents. Together with specialists, public officials and representatives of civil society, the executives discussed the statute’s achievements and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
The meeting was attended by the Vale Foundation, the Votorantim Institute, the HSBC Solidarity Institute, the Unibanco Institute, the Itaú Social Foundation, the Telefônica Foundation, the ArcelorMittal Foundation, Sesi/SP, Sesi/CN, Gerdau and two banks, Santander and Bradesco. For the first time, the companies decided to deal with the children’s rights issue together in order to help raise awareness and strengthen protection mechanisms.
At the end of the event, a letter setting out commitments to undertake joint work on the issue was signed. An invitation was issued to other companies that may wish to sign the letter.
