Vale did a campaign to help victims of rains in Minas Gerais, in Brazil

Vale Foundation has opened a bank account to receive donations for the victims of the heavy rains that hit Minas Gerais in 2012. For every R$1 received, Vale has deposited double the amount, up to a maximum of R$2 million.

The appeal will fund the purchase of furniture, electric appliances and household items for affected families in the municipalities where the Vale Volunteers program operates.

More than 200 municipalities in Minas Gerais were hit by the storms, affecting around 2.1 million people. Of these, 9,880 people have had to leave their homes but do not require public shelters, and another 512 are living in public shelters.

Last year, R$765,077 was donated by the public and R$1,530,154.92 by Vale in a campaign organized by the Vale Foundation to help flood victims in the highland region of Rio de Janeiro State. A further R$68,271.50 was received from suppliers and partner companies.
