Vale Volunteers

Created in 2004, the Vale Volunteers program stimulates a culture of volunteering within the company. By encouraging socially responsible behavior among employees, Vale strengthens social dialog and contributes to development in the areas where the company operates.

Vale Volunteers is composed of around 30 local networks, with approximately 100 action groups and many individual volunteers throughout the country. Together, they form the Vale Volunteers Network. In October 2005, the Vale Volunteers Portal was created to connect these volunteers, stimulate communication and promote new initiatives.

Coverage: Brazil (Bahia, Espírito Santo, Pará, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Piauí and Sergipe), Australia, South Africa, Peru and Mozambique.

V-Day

V-Day (Volunteers’ Day) was created by the Federation of Industry of Minas Gerais State (FIEMG) in 2001, and in 2004, the Vale Volunteers program joined the initiative, extending it to another seven states where Vale operates.

Volunteers meet annually at a national meeting and take part in V-Day, held on the first Sunday of December.

The event brings together company volunteers and their families, friends and neighbors, as well as many other people interested in participating in activities like handing out food, planting trees, painting and refurbishing schools, providing health care and cultural, leisure and sports activities.
