Our sustainability reports are designed to hold company management accountable to society and to confirm our commitments to making progress in our practices. These publications reaffirm Vale’s commitment to transparency in its activities and to improving the quality of its administration.
The 2010 document was prepared in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) methodology, a widely used international standard, and was classified as A+, the maximum level of transparency. The report covers social, economic and environmental issues grouped in ten topics considered important for our company’s internal and external stakeholders. The report’s “materiality matrix” is composed of the following topics: communities, climate change, energy, water, health and safety, emissions, waste, talent management, developing suppliers, and land use.
